This retrofit requires the BMW M3 SMG wheel and my DIY kit to work perfectly. The SMG wheel is already equipped with paddles and only available in M-color stitching and titanium shadow trim. Black trim can be ordered as well. Earlier E46 models may require the new round airbag. In addition, the car has to be equipped with Steptronic transmission.

This retrofit is fully compatible with:

• Euro and US specs BMW.
• E46 318, 320, 323, 325, 328, 330 from 1999 through 2005.

• Do I need a new airbag?
  • If you have a pre-2001 E46, you will need one. If you have a post-2001 E46 without sports package, you will need one. Please refer to this picture to determine which airbag you have.
• What's the difference between a kit and a set?
  • Kit does not include the SMG wheel. The set includes the kit and a SMG wheel.
• Can I just buy the kit and mount paddles myself?
  • No, the kit does not include paddles for you to mount yourself.
